The AMA is working with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in its nationally based “100,000 Lives Campaign,” to encourages physicians to use evidence-based interventions in their hospitals to improve the way certain medical conditions are handled. This toolkit contains the following six programs: Deliver reliable care for acute myocardial Infarctions, Prevent central line infections, Prevent Surgical Site Infections, Prevent ventilator associated pneumonias, Prevent adverse drug events through“Medication Reconciliation” and Deploy Rapid Response Teams. AACN Healthy Work Environment Assessment

Developed by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the AACN Healthy Work Environment Assessment tool is a screening test for organizations to measure the health of their work environment against the AACN Standards for Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments. It provides an overall healthy work environment score and scores for each of the six essential standards. This screening tool evaluates a work environment based on each of the standards, but does not diagnose specific challenges within a standard.

Toolkit for ICUs to Improve the Safety and Quality of Patient Care

The toolkit was developed by an Intensive Care Unit Implementation Workgroup (including including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and hospital administrators) and supported by a team of Michigan Health and Safety Coalition (MH&SC) members, technical and policy experts and administrative staff. This web-based toolkit helps hospitals achieve ICU physician staffing standards. The toolkit helps hospitals improve ICU structures and processes by adopting evidence-based best practices which meet the MH&SC ICU Physician Staffing Guideline.
